Hanako is an international music educator and arts administrator who is continuously questioning and exploring learning in and through the arts. Her research and the workshops she has facilitated focus on innovative, interdisciplinary, and equitable practices towards reflective learning. She has presented at international schools in South America and Singapore, as well as at arts- and DEI-related initiatives in the U.S. and Europe. She has been a coach for Project Zero's Making Learning Visible course, a scriptwriter for Ted-Ed, and an academy manager for the Pacific Music Festival. She studied music education and trombone performance at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, and she received her Ed.M. Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Currently, she is an elementary music teacher at the Singapore American School. She is also on the Board of Trustees for the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) and was selected as an ASCD 2023 Emerging Leader.
